Athletic Republic Athlete, Caleb Williams, Named Heisman Trophy Finalist
USC Quarterback Caleb Williams and Michigan Running Back Blake Corum Earn Prestigious Recognitions
How do not one but TWO Athletic Republic athletes earn the highest prestigious recognition in college football? Well, it's not by coincidence. As the premier destination for individualized, sport-specific training, AR is proud to reveal that two of our brand’s athletes have been named finalists for college football's highest honors this year. At Athletic Republic, all athletes learn to develop the speed, power, and agility needed to dominate their sport, and this year in college football was no exception.
AR athlete and USC quarterback, Caleb Williams, who has led the Trojans to an 11-2 record and the #10 national seed, was one of four finalists announced today by the Heisman Committee. He joins Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, TCU's Max Duggan, and Georgia's Stetson Bennett making up the field of 4 contenders for college football's most vaunted and treasured individual honor. Williams will travel to New York City for the announcement of the winner, which will be televised on ESPN live this Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 8 PM ET.
Williams tops the list of Heisman finalists for throwing 4,075 yards, 37 touchdowns and only four interceptions, 372 rushing yards, and 10 touchdowns, as a true sophomore in his first season for the Trojans after joining coach Lincoln Riley in his transfer from Oklahoma to USC.

In addition to being named a Heisman Trophy finalist, Williams was also named a finalist for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award, which is presented annually to the top quarterback in college football. Additionally, the University of Michigan running back and Athletic Republic athlete Blake Corum also received position-based honors, as he was named a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, an award given to college football’s most outstanding running back each season.

“It’s very exciting to see our athletes earn such honorable recognitions and be recognized for their hard work,” said Charlie Graves, Chief Executive Officer of Athletic Republic. “Our program is designed to help athletes develop their full capabilities, and seeing it come to fruition in real time with Caleb and Blake has been an unbelievable experience for all of us at Athletic Republic,” he continued. “I met Carl and Caleb Williams at a Football Camp twelve years ago – They were already training at an AR training center and the results they were realizing led to Carl and his partners opening their Athletic Republic training center in District Heights.”

Both Caleb Williams and Blake Corum attended high school in the Washington, D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area (known as the DMV), and trained together for years, including at Athletic Republic Capitol Region in District Heights. The two standout athletes remain close friends today and occasionally enjoy training together in their off-season. AR Capitol Region is owned and operated by Caleb’s father Carl Williams and his partners Russ Thomas and Mark McCain, who set out to introduce a concept that would positively impact the athletic development of their children and countless other athletes in the greater Washington DC area. In addition to Williams and Corum, athletes such as Scottish track and field Olympian Nicole Yeargin and two-time NBA champion Quinn Cook have trained with AR Capitol Region.
"We've built a community for athletic development in this little District Heights hotbed.” said Carl Williams, Owner of AR Capitol Region, “More importantly the boys learned at Athletic Republic the importance of preparation and perseverance, as they developed the speed, power, and agility needed to play at a higher level."
